Joignez Le bloc d’artistes du CTI, ami.es, artistes et militant.e.s, pour une soirée d’art, de performances, et de célébration! Nous nous retrouvons pour célébrer 5 ans du Bloc d’Artistes, et donc de célébrer les luttes de travailleurs.es im.migrants.es pour la justice au travail, la dignité, et leur lutte contre la précarité, et pour le travail décent et un statut pour tous.tes
Au cours des 5 dernières années le Bloc d’Artistes du Iwc-Cti rassemble des travailleurs.es im.migrants.es qui participent aux mouvements pour la justice et la dignité de par leur création artistique activiste. Que ce soit par un nombre innombrable de bannières, du papier mâché, des marionnettes en carton, du théâtre de rue, la photographie, et une performance promenade de hip-hop dans son quartier, le Bloc d’Artistes et ses membres ont depuis 5 ans portés les voix des travailleurs.es migrants.es et immigrants.es à l’avant plan de ces mouvements sociaux.
À travers le theatre, des campagnes d’affiches, des interventions publiques et installations artistiques, nous marquons ce moment important avec une célébration de 5 ans et une rétrospective des projets du Bloc d’Artistes du Centre des Travailleurs.es Immigrants.es, une rétrospective de de 5 ans d’art activiste communautaire et interdisciplinaire pour la justice im.migrante à Montréal.

INFO ACCESSIBILITÉ: L’immeuble a une entrée sur la rue Lajeunesse avec 4 marches pour accèder à la porte. L’immeuble a aussi un stationnement côté Berri, qui donne à une rampe d’accès à l’immeuble et la salle de spectacle. Les salles de bains sont accessibles en chaises roulantes. Nous ne pouvons malheureusement garantir un espace sans odeurs (scent-free). Il y aura quelques projections pendant le 5 à 7, ainsi qu’en début de spectacle.

Join the Artists Bloc of the Immigrant Workers Centres, friends and allies to celebrate 5 years of the Artists Bloc, and to celebrate the struggles of Immigrant/migrant workers for workplace justice, dignity and the struggle for status, decent work, and against precarity.
Over the past 5 years the Artist Bloc has brought together Immigrant/migrant workers that have been participating in movements through the creation of art, whether it be countless banners, through paper mâché, giant puppets, street theatre, photography, or hip-hop… in the last 5 years this work has brought the voices of migrant and immigrant workers struggles to the forefront of our movements.
In the context of a so-called sanctuary city, the fight with Temporary Foreign Workers for status and decent work, collective members who have been fighting or facing deportation, temporary placement agency workers confronting horrible working conditions, or the campaign for a $15 minimum wage which brings in those groups most marginalized, women and immigrant workers, living and working with precarious immigration status in vulnerable sectors (agricultural, food transformation, hotels, restaurants, domestic work). There struggles have been propelled to the forefront of politics because of their organizing for years, this struggle is daily and ongoing for our members and artists on the front lines.
For five years the Artists Bloc has carried the creative actions to push these campaigns and struggles further into the public, different communities, and neighborhoods – because this work carries the message that people have power, and in their local context. Their labour is not valued, but it brings forth work that is critical to society. Domestic work, the food industry – this work is done by immigrants, those most precarious workers, whose collective power in this moment is to take back the mike.
Join us for this 5 year celebration and retrospective of the Artists Bloc, a retrospective of five years of multidisciplinary arts activist community engagement for im/migrant justice in Montreal!!

Childcare available // This event is a fundraiser (PWYC) for the Immigrant Workers Centre
ACCESSIBILITY INFO: The building has an entrance on Lajeunesse street with 4 steps leading to the door. The building also has a parking area accessed from Berri street, giving on to an access ramp to the building and the performance space. Bathrooms are wheelchair accessible. We are unfortunately unable to guarantee a scent-free space. There will be projections during the 5 to 7pm portion, as well as the beginning of the performances.
